Casing we also call it segmented casing, temporary casing, usually double casing and single casing types, usually with rotary digging construction drilling work used. What kind of material is this temporary casing made of? Is it hard, strong and wear-resistant? Rotary casing is a kind of steel pipe, mainly used to protect the safety of the surrounding soil and buildings when digging deep foundation pits. It is usually made of high-strength steel, such as Q345D or Q390D steel. Rotary digging casing can be divided into two types according to the different installation methods, they’re pile casing and foundation casing. How do those two kinds of segmental casing work?
Pile casings are used to drive the casing section by section into the soil layer and connect the casing to form the pile when drilling the borehole to the design depth. Suitable for all kinds of large and small building foundations, railways, highways, tunnels, underground pipelines, bridges and other engineering infrastructure. While foundation casings are used to protect the surrounding soil and building safety during deep foundation pit excavation. Its inner diameter is larger than pile casing. It is usually installed inside pile casing and used, and the casing is pressed to different depths according to design requirements. The installation methods of foundation casing are generally sunk tube, pushing and digging. They are made of high-strength steel, such as Q345D or Q390D steel, strong enough during drilling and digging.
Then why does this steel casing become segmented casing? Let’s explore it. As we all know, many construction sites need to drill holes or drilling, whether we build high-rise buildings, build high-speed railway, build submarine tunnel, build lake tunnel, build airport, build high-speed way, build port and other different construction scenes, all need to drill holes. The diameter of the hole, the depth of the hole needed are not the same. Compared with the traditional straight drilling process, its advantages are a lot. First of all, as the casing can control the diameter and perpendicularity of the hole, improve the quality and stability of the hole wall. Besides, casing can avoid hole collapse and ensure construction safety as the self-weight of the casing steel pipe and the lateral pressure of the surrounding soil can improve the speed and success rate of hole drilling. In the actual construction of foundation engineering, casing rotary digging is widely used in the following aspects including foundation treatment, such as soft soil foundation treatment of cast-in-place piles, drilled piles, etc. And consolidation grouting, such as supporting piles and retaining piles in deep foundation pits. Also working on underground pipeline layout, such as tunnels and pipeline tunnels in municipal water supply and drainage projects.
